creative space- a blanket of love

I was always inspired by the Wellness Tree- a project the Gardenmama created as a support for an inspirationally creative, crafty and vibrant Mother and blogger who was diagnosed with breast cancer. Sadly, Kelly recently passed away and left behind her son, Ari (who is the same age as my son, North) and husband, Matt. I have joined Tonya and many other women who have been inspired by Kelly, her beautiful life and her battle with breast cancer to knit a single blanket square which will go towards, in the words of Tonya, "a special knit quilt for Ari; a quilt made of love in each stitch; a quilt where anyone who wished could contribute a square without spending too much time; a quilt that Ari could have forever knowing that it was lovingly stitched by a group of women that prayed for and supported his Mom and continued that love and support towards he and his father after she passed on."

This is the first real texture pattern I have knitted, it's called 'basket weave'. I hope there is a little place for it on the blanket I know will provide warmth, love to a little boy and timeless tribute, love and respect to his mother. Such a beautiful thing to do in such a time. How tragic for that poor little and big man. Hug that bubby of yours extra hard tonight :)
