The raspberry leaf has long been used as a natural and magical herb for women. Female healers have prescribed it for menstruation, pregnancy, labour, breastfeeding and menopause. Some benefits of the raspberry leaf, if consumed regularly during pregnancy include:
*easing morning sickness*
*prevention of bleeding gums ( a common side-effect of pregnancy)*
*relaxing and soothing of the uterine muscles before, during and after labour*
*providing a source of iron, calcium, maganese, B1 and B3 to the body*
Midwives (and some open-minded/well-rounded Doctors) often suggest consuming strong doses of raspberry leaf tea, supplements or tonics from 32 weeks onward to prepare the uterus for labour.
And so, 2-3 times a day I am sipping the most lovely, fragrant and mildly sweet tea.
Hope you've had a lovely weekend and Brad of course says a big thank you to everyone for sending him you birthday good tidings.

What a stunning photo Meagan! Are you really beyond 32 weeks ... my goodness I do tend to loose track of time.
I can't take credit for the photo- I put the link at the bottom of the post. It is beautiful though. Yes, I am now just over 33 weeks- it's all happening around here!! xo m.
33 weeks! Ahhh! Very exciting. Looking forward to hearing about the new member of the family.
Hoping you have a smooth run until then. After the birth? Well, good luck. My 2YO at the moment is killing me veeeery slowly. Bella broke a PB yesterday - 35-minute tantrum...:(
ive consumed much of the tea during my two pregnancies...the reflection in the cup, my..xx
what a lovely reflection in your cup of tea.
not long now mama, so exciting x
I drank raspberry leaf tea during both my pregnancies (3rd trimester) and I truly believe that it helps!! I discovered it in a wonderful book - "The Natural Way to a Better pregnancy". It is yummy with a teaspoon of honey!!! Oh the memories of pregnancy..... enjoy x
Just reading "Raspberry Leaf Tea" took me back to drinking copious amounts of the stuff when my 1st preganancy was so overdue. I haven't managed to look at another cup since. LOL.
Yes me too, that tea brings back memories ;)I only found out during the second pregnancy and birthing was a much better experience than the first one...Wheat germ oil, I believe that one is a MUST as well!!
How exciting!!! Just think...in 7 or 8 weeks you will be welcoming another little human being into your life, (always a little mind boggling)!!!

That is a beautiful picture. I really must try this tea if there is a 'next time' - I've heard it recommended often but didn't use it in either of the last two pregnancies but I'm always open to new things, especially ones that might ease pregnancy sickness.
Not long to go now, Those real nesting urges should start to kick in soon.
xx Jen
Enjoy that lovely tea. Thats so exciting you are nearly there...
Big happy belly rubs to you.
Hello,
First time reading your blog, and you have a beautiful blog!
I was wondering about red raspberry tea leaf; is it safe to drink it in the first trimester? Did you take it in the first tri or later?
thank you
Sonia
Sonia, from what I know it is safe all through pregnancy but has the most effective results from second trimester onwards. Perhaps if you have a history of miscarriage or early labour you should avoid it until you are further along, but consult a health professional for details, as I am certainly not one. xo m.
