it's never too cold for the beach

Although the park never grows old for North, I need a change of scene every so often. So yesterady, inspired by the never-ending beauty of this talented mama's shots, I packed up the picnic bag, grabbed a few toys and threw on our rubber boots.

It was at most 10˚C (50˚F) in the early hours, but we had a lovely time wading through the sand and surf. I was even able to have a little lie down while North did some important digging.

If you want some more ideas on how to get outdoors when it's cold read this post.
There are really just three key elements to a successful winter adventure: various layers of clothing that especially ensure your feet, neck and head stay warm; snacks and drinks (preferably warm); and a warm blanket to keep your bottoms warm.
Now, get out there and enjoy the fresh air!

I completely agree! We just spent the week at the beach in Point Lonsdale. Kids really don't seem to mind the cold as much as we adults anyway!

The beach in winter is somehow an even more special place. But I have a VERY hard time convincing my 3 that the water is too cold for swimming. I ALWAYS take about 4 changes of clothes!!!

I love the beach in winter too. I just wish we lived closer so it was an easier option to visit.

But we have a holiday planned for November where we will be staying almost right on the beach, and Little B is super excited :-)

i love cold beach. i bet you guys had so much fun. We used to have the pleasure of living very close to a small protected beach that the kids loved visiting, cold or hot.

My mama wanted us with babe to trek to the beach on a winter’s day a few weeks back - you've reignited the desire. Thanks :)

Beautiful pictures. I do love the beach and try to take the girls often on the nice winter days. I just find it so difficult keeping Miss E out of the water!!!

That last photo- the water looks so clear and beautiful. It never seems too cold for the boys to get out and about- and you are right, key to a successful outing for them..snacks, layers, and more snacks...
