A Monday meme. Handmade with love, kneaded with strength, baked from the heat of the Earth. A part of each day. Every week I will post a photo of one our doughy creations. From seven-grain loaves to tortillas to hot cross buns to chapati to french bread sticks. homemade bread rolls

Using my basic bread recipe, I shaped up some small bread rolls to have with our split pea soup for dinner last night. Line a baking tray or pizza stone with cornmeal/polenta and place rolls on top close together (touching around the sides). Heat oven to 210˚C, pour one cup of water in a deep pan underneath where you'll place the buns (so that there is a small amount of steam in the oven when baking) and place buns in for 25-35 minutes until golden on top. Topped with sesame seeds and a sprinkle or salt and herbs de provence (before baking), they are always sure to be a hit around the dinner table or to use as a roll for your packed lunch.

They look so yum. I love a good bread roll :-)

Question for you though - do you know if you can get a bad batch if yeast? After 2 years of breadmaking, I'm having trouble all of a sudden with my bread.

It's sinking and I'm stumped as to why.

Now I did try the Olive Bread that looked so divine last time. It was something of a disaster, although LOML claimed 'it still tastes good'. But it was my first go so I'm not too disheartened. I think these rolls will be a little more my speed...
