i heart my Ergo

A lot of people ask me what baby carrier we use and prefer. We had a Bjorn and a Hug-a-Bub (which I also love for newborns) for North. Then, when I travelled overseas I got the Ergo so that I could carry him on my back. This time around, I rarely use the Bjorn. Once you get used to putting the Ergo on by yourself (a bit of gymnastics when you're putting the baby on your back) it is such a delight to use. I just love how we can change Indigo's position based on her and our mood.

Here are a few other reasons I love my Ergo:

less stress on your back

room for more than one

easy access to snacks and meals

How do you carry your little one?

I can't tell you how much I love my ergo! I bought it when my daughter was one and getting too heavy for baby bjorn, now she's two and I still use it sometimes.

Love my ergo! I used put my kids in an ergo until they were at least four. It was great when Hugo was a baby as I'd put him in the pram and give Elsa an 'ergo piggyback'. Easy peasy!

I use my hug-a-bub regularly but mostly I use this one I made myself http://ivynest.blogspot.com/2011/03/sling-for-violet.html
I so much wish I'd learned about baby carrying 6 to 8 years ago when I had my first two.

I have three, for different stages... I used the moby wrap for the brand new stage, a mei tai starting around 3 months, and the ergo from about 6 months (and still going!). I continued to use the mei tai occasionally up until about 1 year but the ergo has to be my fave!

When I became a mum 18yrs ago there really wasn't much on the market in the way of baby carriers which set the scene for the rest of our bubs....I am intrigued by what is available these days though.

I am using both the Moby and the Manduca (very similar to the Ergo) and absolutely LOVE them both, they make life with a baby so much easier not to mention more in sync with my instincts.

Baby Bjorns are really bad for babies hips/legs/back - they can throw everything out of alignment. Anyone using them should do some research. Osteo's do not reccomend them. Ergo's are great, as are Mei Tai's, Manduca's.
