our winter nature table

We have a new reading nook in our house and now that my little ones have a tiny amount of self-control, our nature table is able to be a bit lower down and on display at their eye level. For many months our nature table stood very high above their heads!
King Winter has most definitely arrived in Sydney. Much to most surprise Winter is my favourite season here. You can still go outside and play but it's cold enough that you can rug up in woollen underwear and socks, wear handmade knits, make casseroles, stews and soups for dinner every evening and light candles at breakfast time.

Our winter table clearly represents more of an archetypal winter but I hope one day this is my children's winter reality! I still have such fond and vivid memories of rugging up in my snowsuit and spending hours in my backyard building snowmen and snow forts.
I hope you are all enjoying a hot cup of tea on these chilly afternoons and that you are taking things slowly. Another thing I love about this season...

One of these days, I will remember that you live on the exact opposite side of the globe from me, and I will not be so confused when you post about the "wrong" season.

Your nature table is, as always, beautiful. I really want to do something similar for my daughter when she is bigger, I just haven't quite figured out how to do so yet. Thanks for sharing, it really gets my gears turning! :)

Oh M, it looks divine. I too fill my unused fireplace with toys (although mine isn't nearly as neat as yours).
Winter has definitely arrived hasn't it. I too love this season, staying all cosy in handmade knits and woollen hats. And yet we still get endless days of sun and blue sky - so lucky we are. x
