My littles turned 3 and 5 last week. Their birthdays are so close together that we have been celebrating jointly the past few years. We follow the Waldorf tradition- inviting as many friends as the age they are turning (Indi had 3 and North had 5). I knew I wanted a bit of help thinking back to the amount of sourcing and hours spent on the party last year, so after a brief description of our "gnome and fairy" theme Liz from Mei&May took care of the details- eco cutlery and plates; centrepieces; tissue paper pom poms and garlands, a birthday bunting; a game of pass the parcel and a gnome and fairy craft table. All I had to worry about was filling tummies with nourishing treats. It was a cooking and baking frenzy the evening before the party making Jude's spelt spongecake and homemade ice cream, whipping up homemade marshmallows, homemade fruit jelly, boiling and peeling quail eggs and popping big bowls of popcorn. In the morning we iced the cakes, whipped up a batch of muffins and chopped up the veggies and fruit while Liz set the table outside. The party was beautiful and you can see from the looks on their faces they had a lovely, lovely time. Happy Birthday to my big girl Indigo and the-five-year-old North. I hope all your birthday wishes came true.
